Individual Therapy
Our work together will focus on developing and achieving your personal goals. Once we have identified these goals, I tailor each session to address your specific needs in a way that brings about growth and opportunities for learning. Sessions will vary depending on the issues we are addressing, but typically last for 45 minutes. I ask for an initial commitment of one time per week for the first two months. This allows me to become familiar with the issues you want to address and enables you to use the skills learned in therapy while receiving consistent feedback.
Trauma Therapy
Trauma occurs when a past distressing event continues to affect your current functioning, causing negative beliefs about yourself and the world. I work with you to reduce the impact of past trauma on your life and to help you find a life that’s worth living. I employ several techniques to accomplish this, but have seen the greatest results with a form of therapy called Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). This therapy, in conjunction with building distress tolerance skills, enables you to reduce problematic symptoms associated with unresolved trauma and develop a positive sense of yourself. Trauma therapy sessions will depend on the type and severity of the trauma you’ve experienced. I work diligently to provide a secure place for you to explore these issues without judgement or fear.
Online Therapy
To better serve the needs of my clients, I offer online therapy through a HIPPA compliant video conference platform, Simple Practice. This service can be utilized when we cannot find a time for in-office sessions, if you feel more comfortable engaging in therapy from the comfort of your couch, or if you are traveling and would like to continue our sessions during that time. If you would like to choose this service, I will be happy to consult with you and walk you through how to use the Simple Practice software on your computer, tablet or phone. This is the perfect way to engage in therapy for people who have busier schedules.
Individual Relationship Therapy
While I do not provide couples therapy per se, I offer relationship therapy for individuals. We will focus on current or past relationships and how the dynamics in these relationships affect you. Our goals together will be identifying the type of relationship you want and engaging in practical steps to bring these relationships about so that you can have a secure future with your partner. I approach relationships from an attachment perspective.
